This is my second purchase of the CoverBuddy. My first one cracked on the Apple Pencil holder tab after almost two years because I would push against it with my finger when adjusting the volume. I did not want to buy another one because of the price, but after trying a few cases I have to admit that this is the only design that lets me use the keyboard easily while providing good (by good I mean avoid dents and scratches) protection to the iPad itself. I can even put on a screen protector with no issues. So the case might look like a thin piece of plastic, but the design is a good one. Also it helps me keep my Apple Pencil secure while charging it with my IPad, and I don’t misplace it the way I used to without the case.Pros:-Great pencil holder.-Fantastic for using in tablet mode without the keyboard. It protects the back from scratches.-The only option like this that connects to the magic keyboard.Cons:-Won’t charge with a few aftermarket cords. I got a long extension power cord for my iPad and the hole for the power cord isn’t wide enough to accommodate it (even though it’s not much larger than the original cord). I have to take the cover off every time I want to use that cord for charging.-Sides are thin and easy to break.OverallIf needed, I would purchase this again.Fake leather feels cheap. Often has problems connecting to magic keyboard. It does eventually connect, not worth the money though. I think you’re more likely dropping and damaging the iPad with this slippery case. Volume buttons are literally terrible to try and press. Apple Pencil access is cumbersome. Women with nails, you’ll never be able to use this. Men without nails, you’ll need short ones to push the volume knob. The one redeeming quality of this case is the cradle for the pencil.I absolutely loved this cover. It works great with the magic keyboard cover. It was exactly what I was looking for.OK, so Apple is out to lunch with ipad pencils. Somehow, they're too cool to provide a storage solution with the device, even with the magic keyboard! Since I lost my last pencil (thank you Apple), I bought this. Some reviews said it was light and flimsy. Light, yes. It has to be to magnetically work with the magic keyboard. But it seems pretty sturdy. It won't protect much from a drop, but I can't imagine how to build something that would in this application. The pencil captivation is good, but not great. If they just put a small lip on the pencil area so it couldn't get jarred out of notch, I'd give it a 5. Mine is a great match to the white of the magic keyboard. One of the contact points fell out within 6 months of purchase. I was expecting it to last much longer than 6 months, at this cost. It worked great until this happened. UPDATE: They were very responsive to my message via Amazon customer service, and are sending a replacement case.I purchased this product in April and have loved it. It offers excellent protection and secures my expensive Apple Pencil. I love the interconnectivity with the Magic Keyboard. I hate that the plastic breaks so easily. I hate that it will not connect to my Magic Keyboard anymore because one of the copper posts fell out. I hate that I tried to contact the company and have not heard back.I suppose I knew going in that this was probably an overpriced 2-3 star type of product but I ended up buying it anyway because while it is pretty bad in many ways, it’s about the most convenient way to keep your Apple Pencil on you at all times while still using the Magic Keyboard (what I use) or something like the Magic Folio while keeping things very compact, keeping the Pencil charged, and keeping it lightweight. So as far as the good goes, it really does excel in a few key areas:It’s extremely lightweight. It comes in at around 2.5 ounces (for the 11-inch variant) which is basically imperceptible. For the 11-inch iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard this cover contributes about 6% of the overall weight, which is very little. It’s about as compact as you can get. It’s absurdly thin and I can’t imagine it being any thinner without it breaking just by looking at it.It mostly secures the Apple Pencil. While it’s still possible for the Pencil to fall out (isn’t too hard to make it happen if I try), it’s still FAR better than having nothing. The magnet is still nice and strong. I was worried that I would lose some sturdiness having this cover on, but thankfully the iPad stays firmly attached to the keyboard. So, that’s where it shines. Of course there are some significant downsides:It’s RIDICULOUSLY expensive! There needs to be competition so that prices come down because this isn’t any sort of exotic material or anything. It’s standard 1.5mm thick plastic, so it’s not a matter of *if* it’s a matter of *when* it’s going to start cracking. The back material almost feels like thick playing card stock. This is not a cover meant for protection. The cutout for the port is not big enough. It’s fine if you’re using Apple branded cables, but if you have a USB-C thumb drive, or a mini-dock, or anything similar then it’s probably not going to work with this cover on. The cover is easy to remove, but the more you remove it the more likely it’s going to break. If these came in a 3-pack for $10-15 then I could see giving it 4-5 stars because these are completely disposable and any negatives could be forgiven. $48+ for one is just hilarious! So as cracks continue to develop I will do my best to fill them in with touches of super glue until this thing becomes completely unusable, but this is not an ideal solution.I give it a pessimistic 2.5, rounded down to 2.?I really wanted to like this product. I've been looking for something like this for such a long time so I ignored the negative reviews. Unfortunately the quality felt super cheap (like really really cheap) as if it would break easily. I can't keep the plug in to charge the iPad because the case is not flushed with the iPad causing it to pop out constantly. It's barely a soft texture on the inside unlike what is advertised. And with all this I paid almost $80 and was expecting a premium product. It feels so cheap, five dollars would still be way too expensive for this product. However it does do the job and holds onto the apple pencil. So ignore all the negative reviews if you want and buy it like me, but I think this product sucks for the price.I was really excited for this product, but for the price, I can't justify it. The product itself is super flimsy and arrived warped. The plastic feels really cheap and it impedes the magic keyboard from properly closing. I was hopeful that this would enable me to use my iPad Pro as a writing tablet when not using the magic keyboard but the quality just isnt there and its not an ideal solution. I definitely wouldn't recommend spending nearly $80 Canadian on this.I struggled to decide on 4 or 5 stars for this product. It is a really good cover for my iPad. But it is a fairly thin hard plastic. That’s good to protect it from scratches and minor impacts but this cover can only provide minimal drop or impact protection at best. Then again it needs to be thin in order to allow it to attach to the magnetized Smart Keyboard (which it does brilliantly). That thinness also ensures that the overall profile of the iPad and keyboard with this cover on it remains fairly sleek. The white matches the white of the keyboard perfectly and the holder for the Apple Pencil is perfect and also provides protection for said pencil. So maybe this could be a five star review but for that I’d want some added protection. Regardless, this is a very good product and as long as you’re looking for “some” protection instead of maximum protection I recommend it.
